Okay, so, it's been wayyyyy too long since my last post. Let's catch up some. Beach was great. Had so much fun! School's started. Dance has started. Gymnastics has started. Meaning my free time has diminished considerably. I promise I will try to do better and at least update once a week if I can. I'm just going to start with yesterday since it's been so long.
Yesterday-
Well, yesterday I woke up and got ready for school. I got through school and went home. Haley didn't come over since I needed to finish my homework before dance and gym. I got my homework done and hung out and waited for my mom to come home. She took me to dance. I have a pre-ballet class with 3 and 4 year olds on Mondays. I only have to go for an hour. Pre-ballet is from 6:15-7:00. Gym starts at 7:30. I waited around the studio until it was time to go to gym. The gym's right next door to my dance studio, so it's very convenient. I walked over to gym, put my stuff away, and got ready. We went in and stressed first. We were taught how to properly fall (yes, that is VERY important in gymnastics!) We fell to the front, back, side, and spinning. Then we were off to the events. We were going to beam first, but my main coach said we needed to be working bars. The first spot on bars was leg lifts. A plank is set up and you put your hands on the bar and lift your legs as high as you can. It's a lot harder than it looks. It works on your abs. The next spot was a 5 second chin hold. I absolutely couldn't do it with a forward grip. Oh well. I can only get stronger. The next was a cast with an assistant coach. Then, there were monkey bars (one of my favorites because I've always loved them.) The next spot was a cast with my main coach. He helped me out a lot. The last spot was the parallel bars which we did swings from. I got my first rip last night, too. My hands are still kind of sore. The first night, my hands burned, but it was nothing compared to last night. We go around these a few times, like a circuit. We took a break and practiced what position we were suppose to be in when we cast on the big gym floor. We then went to the little gym. The first spot on this circuit was a cartwheel over a mat. It had Xs on it to show you where to put your hands. The next station was bridge kickovers with my main coach. He helped us get over if we needed it. Of course, it was my first time ever doing one so I needed help. I don't think I did too bad though. The next spot was a springboard bounce to a box. Easy. The next thing was to lay down on a mat and do 5 crunches. They had hopscotch you could do if you wanted. I did it once, but it was pretty pointless. The last thing was a wall handstand into a forward roll. Definitely one of my favorites so far. Then, we went back into the big gym and had another circuit. First was run and bounce off a springboard and land on a mat. The next was run onto a springboard onto the vault horse. You're suppose to put your feet on the horse which is harder than it sounds. The next was to hold yourself up on the pommel horse for 3 seconds. Then there was the leap tramp. I like it because dance has really helped with my leaps. Then it's the flip tramp even thought we only do knee falls, back falls, belly falls, and butt falls. I can't do back falls or belly falls yet. The last thing is dive rolls. My absolute FAVORITE! I've loved it since the first day! I love them for some reason. I just do. It was time to leave afterward, so I went home and took a shower for Picture Day today.
Today-
I woke up, went to school. Blah, blah, blah. I came over to my grandparents' and ate supper. Did homework. Hung out. Went to dance. I have a pre-ballet class first. Then, my ballet and tap. It was a pretty good night. Well, that's pretty much it. It hasn't really been an eventful day. I would write more details, but it's bedtime. I've got my no shame tomorrow in drama, so WISH ME LUCK!
Love,
Allison
